An unvented cylinder is a pressurised vessel. It legally needs a G3-registered installer, a proper expansion arrangement, a tundish, and a discharge pipe routed safely to outside. Get any of that wrong and it's a Building Regs failure at sale.

- A 210L cylinder is roughly 1.6m tall by 550mm across — most Bath airing cupboards handle it comfortably. We measure at survey.

- How long does it last?
- A quality stainless unvented on softened or filtered supply will run 20+ years. In Bath's hard-water areas we recommend an inline scale reducer to protect the coil.
