Baxi E119: low system pressure on a Baxi combi
E119 is not a boiler fault in itself — it is the boiler refusing to fire because there is too little water in the sealed system to heat safely.
What matters most with a Baxi E119 pressure fault
- Refill cold and slowly, then close both filling loop valves fully
- A filling loop left open causes creeping high pressure instead
- Vessel charge is tested with the system drained to zero
- Look for staining on the outside relief discharge pipe
- Persistent loss on underfloor systems needs a proper pressure test
How we read a Baxi E119 pressure fault on site
Refilling clears the code immediately, which is exactly why the underlying cause is so often left unfixed. Where a system needs topping up more than once or twice a year, the expansion vessel charge, the pressure relief valve seat, and the pipework all need checking. On Baxi combis the internal vessel can be recharged in situ in most installs.

Where we deal with this
Questions we get asked
- What if there is no filling loop?
- Some installs use a keyed or internal filling device. We can show you where it is and how to use it during a visit.
- Can low pressure damage the boiler?
- The lockout is there to prevent exactly that. Overriding it risks dry-firing the heat exchanger.

Where this leaves you: Top up correctly, then find out why. A vessel recharge is far cheaper than a heat exchanger.
Include the appliance make and model in your enquiry so the correct technical information can be checked.
