• Refill cold and slowly, then close both filling loop valves fully
• A filling loop left open causes creeping high pressure instead
• Vessel charge is tested with the system drained to zero
• Look for staining on the outside relief discharge pipe
• Persistent loss on underfloor systems needs a proper pressure test

Refilling clears the code immediately, which is exactly why the underlying cause is so often left unfixed. Where a system needs topping up more than once or twice a year, the expansion vessel charge, the pressure relief valve seat, and the pipework all need checking. On Baxi combis the internal vessel can be recharged in situ in most installs.
