Ideal L2: why the same code means different repairs
Two boilers can both display L2 for entirely different reasons, which is why a single generic answer for the code is not much help on its own. What matters is whether the flame ever appeared at all.
Understanding an L2 code with mixed causes before you spend money
If the burner is heard or seen to fire and then the lockout follows a few seconds later, the fault sits downstream of ignition — most often the flame-sense signal being disrupted by condensate or a poor earth. If there is no sound of ignition whatsoever, the fault sits upstream, in gas delivery or the spark components. Describing which pattern you witnessed is the single most useful thing to pass on.
