Ideal Logic L2 lockout: flame loss on a Logic or Vogue
L2 is Ideal's flame-loss code. The burner either never lit or lit and then dropped out mid-cycle, and the appliance has locked out rather than retry indefinitely.

What we check first with an Ideal L2 lockout
Mid-cycle flame loss usually points at condensate or flue issues rather than ignition hardware, because the boiler proved a flame once. Immediate failure points at electrodes, the spark generator or gas supply. Ideal condensate traps are compact and silt up with combustion residue, so on Logic models the trap is inspected and flushed as standard.
Things worth knowing about an Ideal L2 lockout
- Flame loss after firing suggests condensate or flue, not electrodes
- Immediate failure suggests spark, gas valve or supply
- Logic traps benefit from cleaning at every annual service
- External condensate runs need insulating in exposed locations
- Persistent L2 with good gas pressure often ends at the PCB or valve
