Grant Vortex burner lockout: what the reset button is telling you
The Vortex burner locks out when its control box fails to detect a flame within the timed sequence after oil ignition begins. It is a protective response, not a random fault, and it deserves a proper check rather than repeated resetting.
A Grant Vortex burner lockout explained in plain terms
A worn or partially blocked nozzle atomises oil poorly and can prevent reliable ignition even with good supply pressure. A dirty or faulty photocell fails to register a flame that is actually present, which produces an identical lockout from a completely different cause. Low oil level, air in the supply line after a delivery, and a failing pump coupling are checked in sequence before the control box itself is suspected.
