Fuel conversion
Converting from oil to gas across Somerset
As new gas mains are extended into rural Somerset villages, more homeowners are switching from oil to gas. Done properly, the conversion is a one-week project and drops running costs meaningfully.
For: Homeowners recently on the gas grid

How the conversion actually happens
Cadent (or your local network operator) puts the gas main in. We install the meter run indoors, decommission the oil tank, remove the oil boiler, install a new gas boiler, and coordinate the meter fit day.
Included in the conversion
- Coordination with Cadent on meter position
- Internal gas run to boiler location
- New Worcester, Vaillant or Ideal gas boiler
- Oil tank drained, cut down and removed
- Oil-line disconnected and made safe
Frequently asked
- How much cheaper is gas?
- Historically 25–40% lower running cost than oil per kWh. Depends on the year and tariffs, but gas is consistently cheaper.
- What happens to the oil tank?
- We drain, cut and remove it. Residual oil is disposed of properly. Site made good.
- Can you handle the Cadent side?
- We coordinate the timing and provide the internal ready-to-connect meter position, but the connection itself is between you and the network operator.
