LPG conversion
LPG boiler installation for off-grid Somerset homes
LPG bridges the gap between oil and mains gas. It burns cleaner than kerosene, the boilers are the same units as mains-gas models on an LPG jet, and the running costs are usually somewhere between the two.
For: Off-grid homeowners considering LPG instead of oil

The bit that matters — tank siting
The LPG supplier owns the tank and dictates clearances. What we control is where the pipe enters the house, the regulator's position, and the boiler's location — all of which affect gas pressure at the appliance and the paperwork you sign with the supplier.
What you get with an LPG conversion
- Sizing survey — flow rate, radiator count, hot-water demand
- Coordination with your chosen LPG supplier on tank location
- New regulator, meter (if metered) and correctly-sized gas run
- Boiler on LPG jets, commissioned to manufacturer spec
- Gas Safe LPG-endorsed certification submitted to Building Control
Frequently asked
- Is LPG cheaper than oil?
- It depends on the year and the tariff. Oil has historically been cheaper per kWh, but LPG boilers are quieter and burn cleaner, and switching between suppliers is easier.
- Can I use the existing oil radiators?
- Yes. The heating circuit doesn't change — only the boiler and its fuel supply. We do flush and add a magnetic filter as standard.
- Do you handle the tank paperwork?
- We coordinate with Calor, Flogas or your chosen supplier on siting and pressure, and we complete the Gas Safe side. The rental agreement is between you and them.
