A loft boiler needs a permanent, fixed means of safe access — usually a proper loft ladder rather than a hatch and step stool — plus a solid working platform around the appliance for servicing. Condensate pipework needs a continuous fall to a drain point without dipping, since a loft run is more exposed to cold than an internal wall and freezes more easily if not insulated properly. Lighting and a socket for servicing are also worth planning in at installation.
